Otherwise a long tail taxi boat is called for. Mango Bay is a beauty. Viewed from the sea it is as if one were transported to a location for Treasure Island.

A new resort is being completed here, so it remains to be seen if Mango Bay will retain its breathtaking beauty once the detritus of construction work has been removed, and the landscaping of the gardens blossom in full.

The bay is immensely popular with the diving fraternity. Sandy shallow areas, beautiful shallow coral, deeper rock dives along the shoreline, Mango Bay has a lot to offer.

Fortunately the bay is large enough to cope with the many boats that moor up here.

A common site is the 'Orange Wave' as it is affectionately known throughout South East Asia.

Something to do with the Dutch?

Not at all. Keep your eyes open for a score or more of (usually) Korean snorkellers.

Each clad in a bright orange life preserver they are led en masse into the water, snorkel en masse appearing to hover over the same spot, and are then heaved from the water as if connected by invisible ropes.

Perhaps that is the real secret?
