Mae Haad Beach is home to some of Koh Tao's nicest sun bathing spots and to a couple of Koh Tao's most luxurious resorts. Wherever you stay you can sample the stunning sunset and a magnificent view of Koh Tao's western side. All boats arrive here.
Naturally highly developed, but still managed to keep some of its old fishing village charm. Money exchange, post office, government office & health center are in Mae Haad. Most dive centers have an office here, lots of travel agents, email services, supermarkets, bike rentals, good restaurants and party venues. A few up-market resorts are located on the southern end .
The beach is ideal for kids being very shallow and no traffic means even more safety. It's a good place to snorkel and besides lot's of tropical fish the world below also offers a large wooden shipwreck: which once upon a time stranded on the reef.
Mae Haad Beach is a great spot to stay on - the accommodation facilities are excellent. It's quiet and secluded, there is great snorkelling nearby and it isn't far from good seafood restaurant and diving facilities.
